Teton Light is a nonprofit organization that started as an idea between two friends in Rexburg, Idaho. They recognized the need for support and resources within the LGBTQ+ community, particularly in conservative areas where such resources may be scarce. They wanted to create a safe and supportive space where LGBTQ+ individuals could receive the help they needed to achieve their goals and overcome the challenges they faced. From that initial idea, Teton Light was born.
Our mission is to empower members of the LGBTQ+ community to achieve their goals and overcome the obstacles they face. We understand that members of the LGBTQ+ community often face unique challenges, and we believe that education, financial stability, and mental health support are essential to helping them achieve success. That's why we provide grants to help cover the costs of higher education, living expenses, and therapy.
According to the Trevor Project, LGBTQ+ youth are at a higher risk of experiencing mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. In fact, LGBTQ+ youth are four times more likely to attempt suicide than their heterosexual peers. This is a sobering statistic, and it highlights the urgent need for support and resources within the LGBTQ+ community.At Teton Light, we believe that access to education, financial stability, and mental health support can help reduce these disparities and promote the health and well-being of LGBTQ+ individuals. Our grants are designed to provide a helping hand to those who need it most, and we are proud to support members of the LGBTQ+ community in their pursuit of success and happiness.
As a conservative nonprofit organization, we believe in the power of individual responsibility and self-reliance. We also believe that a helping hand can make all the difference for those who are facing difficult circumstances. Here at Teton Light, we understand that everyone comes from varying backgrounds and circumstances. To help level the playing field, we provide grants to members of the LGBTQ+ community at BYU-Idaho. These grants can be used for schooling or therapy. We do this to help better individuals’ lives and to create a safer environment for LGBTQ+ students.
